As of , this site measures three things for ten cities in Portugal: how warm and wet each month is (NASA POWER mean temperature and rainfall), how busy each city is by month (INE overnight stays), and, for Porto so far, what lodging, local transport and four big sights cost (Inside Airbnb listings and official price lists). It does not measure hotel rates, restaurant averages, sea temperature, safety or how a place feels. Where we have no source, the page shows a gap, not a guess. The best-month score is a formula we chose and print in full. Research and first drafts are AI-assisted. Every figure comes from open data listed on the page with its source and date, and a person reviews each page before it goes live.

    INE, Statistics Portugal

    Fetched

    What we take
Monthly overnight stays per municipality (indicator 0010735).
    How we use it
Average of each calendar month over 2023-2025, divided by the busiest month. That is the crowd index.
  2. Open, attribution required

    NASA POWER

    Fetched

    What we take
Monthly climatology per city point: mean air temperature at 2 m and rainfall.
    How we use it
Mean temperature, not the daily maximum. Comfort = temperature fit (17-24 °C best) x dryness.
  3. CC BY 4.0

    Eurostat price level indices

    Fetched

    What we take
Price level of restaurants and hotels, EU27 = 100, latest year.
    How we use it
Shown as the published index. Used for country comparison only, never as a city price.
  4. CC BY 4.0

    Inside Airbnb

    Fetched

    What we take
Listed nightly prices in Porto city parishes, snapshot 2026-06-23.
    How we use it
Median and quartiles per room type. These are Airbnb-style listings, not hotel rates.
  5. Public price list, figures only

    Metro do Porto fares

    Fetched

    What we take
Official single, 24-hour and tour ticket prices.
    How we use it
Read from the official page with a dated screenshot per price. No text copied.
  6. Official act, paraphrased

    Diário da República (DRE)

    Fetched

    What we take
Article 135 of Decreto-Lei 10/2015: price lists and the couvert.
    How we use it
Read in the act and in its consolidated version. Explained in plain English, not legal advice.
